How to Get the Pirate Shop Token in Fortnite
Short answer: open chests in Battle Royale during the Treasure Hunters mini-season (Nov 1 to about Dec 5, 2026) and hope for the rarest Treasure Hunt roll. Normal chests can award it, a squad shares the find, and nothing you can buy raises the odds. Here is the exact routine, what is disputed, and what happens when the gold banner appears.
How to get the Pirate Shop token: the 5 steps
The fastest legitimate route is simply maximizing chest opens per match. Every step below increases how many rolls you get, not the odds per roll.
- Play Battle Royale during Treasure Hunters. The mini-season (v43.00) went live Nov 1, 2026 after downtime. The prize rolls from chests on the new Crossbones Isle map, not from other modes' loot.
- Open every chest you can. Every chest opened is one more roll at the top Treasure Hunt tier. Sources disagree on chest types (see below), so do not skip "normal" chests.
- Play in a squad. Multiple outlets and loot trackers report that a find pays out to the whole squad or party. Four players sweeping a chest-dense island open roughly four times as many chests as one.
- Loop back. Chests refill over time during Treasure Hunters, and the Fortune Sprite reveals nearby chests — a second lap through a big POI pays for itself.
- Watch for the gold banner. The winning chest glows and shakes, then "YOU FOUND PIRATE SHOP ACCESS" appears on screen. The prize is already yours at that point, even if you are eliminated immediately after.
- Reported Pirate Shop Access is a Treasure Hunt prize that rolls when opening chests in Battle Royale during Treasure Hunters, and datamined files put it in the prize pool every week."Every week in the pool" means it can drop any week — not that a drop is guaranteed.Sources: HYPEX on X, Dexerto (Callum Doyle), Timesaver.gg (Sam Okonkwo)
Which chests can drop the Pirate Shop token
Normal Battle Royale chests can roll it — that is the simplest reading, but it is disputed whether special chest types are the only or better source.
- Disputed Which chests count: some guides read it as any standard chest; trackers list Treasure, Buried, Sprite and Rare chests; another says "Treasure Hunt Chests" specifically. We could not find a first-hand test that separates chest types. Does your squad get the Pirate Shop token too?
Reportedly yes — if anyone in your squad or party finds it, everyone in the group gets it, which is why squads are the efficient way to hunt.
- Reported A find by one squad or party member pays the prize to the whole group. Epic's own reward text does not mention squads, so this is strongly reported, not official.Sources: LootTrackerFN on X, Fortnite.GG on X, Hotspawn (Jordan Ashley), Timesaver.gg (Sam Okonkwo), GamesRadar+, Shacknews (Aidan O'Brien)

Where to open the most chests
No location changes the odds per chest — a good landing spot only raises how many chests you open per match. Two independent chest guides converge on the same loop:
- 1Lantern LandingLand here
- 2Arlong ParkHead west
- 3LoguetownHead southeast
- 4Cursed CavernIf time allows
Rubber Resort is the alternative opener with the most regular and rare chest spawns in one community count, and The Chest is the buried-chest spot. For the exact chest pins, use an interactive map such as Fortnite.GG's; we do not republish Epic's map art.
- Reported Suggested route: Lantern Landing → Arlong Park → Loguetown → Cursed Cavern, with Rubber Resort as an alternative opener.A route for opening many chests; no route is shown to raise the odds per chest.Sources: Game Rant (Jake Fillery), GAMES.GG (Larc)

Do Treasure Hours on Sunday help?
Not confirmed for the token. Epic's season post promises "Mastery Mondays and Treasure Hours Sundays… all season long" with "boosted drops and more", but does not say Pirate Shop Access is part of the boost.

How long you can get the token
Chests can award it until the Treasure Hunters mini-season ends — Epic's post points at a Chapter 7 end event on Saturday, Dec 5, 2026, though one tracker gives Dec 4 and one summary Dec 1.

What happens when you find the token
The chest glows gold and shakes for a few seconds, then a banner reads "YOU FOUND PIRATE SHOP ACCESS" — after that the reward is on your account, and you claim it from the lobby. There is no rush to use it: the 2026 window does not start until you press Activate, and you have until Dec 15, 2026. Next: how to activate the Pirate Shop.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to win the match to keep the Pirate Shop token?
No. The prize is granted when the chest pays out; players report keeping it after being eliminated moments later.
Does the Pirate Shop token drop in Zero Build or Ranked?
Not confirmed. The first reported find was in a normal Solos lobby. One guide says Ranked lobbies do not offer it; another lists Zero Build, Ranked and Reload as unconfirmed.
Can I tell which chest has the token before opening it?
No. The first winner said the chest looked like any other. It only glows gold and shows the "YOU FOUND PIRATE SHOP ACCESS" banner after you open it.
Do Treasure Hours on Sunday boost the Pirate Shop token odds?
Not confirmed. Epic promises boosted drops during Sunday Treasure Hours but does not say the token is included.
Is there a pity system or guaranteed chest count?
No source describes one. One player reported nothing after 100 chests.
Do random fill squad mates get the token too?
Several outlets say the whole squad or party gets it. Some players say random fills received it as well, but that is unconfirmed testimony.
